SW-Soft soon to offer its Parallels softwareAdd to August 13, 2007 Today, server automation and virtualization software provider SW-Soft announced that it will soon be offering a new version of its Parallels Desktop 3.0 server management software. SW-Soft's new version features SmartSelect, a Parallels-exclusive feature that enables users to open any file from Windows or OS X with any program from either OS. This function builds on Coherence, which lets Windows applications run like native Mac applications on OS X. SW-Soft has also launched the Virtuozzo Starter Pack for Windows and Linux to enable new users to try out OS virtualization technology for a pilot deployment or small server consolidation project. The Virtuozzo Starter Pack, priced at $1,198, is a turn-key offering of software and support. SW-Soft revealed an alpha build of Parallels Server, which runs bare-metal as well as on top of Windows, Linux or OS X server. The new product is scheduled for introduction later in 2007, and will offer businesses the flexibility to run multiple server operating systems on a single physical server. SW-Soft announced last week that more service providers and IT organizations worldwide are using its Virtuozzo virtualization software to reduce expensive electric costs and lower their energy consumption.
