Content delivery network operator Akamai Technologies announces that it has added Indian portal Rediff.com as a new customer.

Rediff.com integrated Akamai's technology for its e-commerce payment gateway and for online music downloads.

"Akamai Media Delivery has been instrumental in revolutionizing the content delivery arena and enabling efficient monetization of media content," says Venki Nishtala, CTO of ediff.com.

"Akamai has been providing increased scalability, availability and performance for our Web site for close to five years, and they were a natural choice for powering our online music initiative."
