According to reports, Hewlett-Packard will introduce today its first blade
server based on the Intel Itanium 2 processor.
HP's new dual-processor BL60p Intel-based server will enable customers
to run HP-UX on blades for the first time.
It will reportedly run at 1.4 and 1.6 GHz, and uses 3 MB of cache memory.
Customers will also have the option of running Linux or Windows as an alternative to Unix.
HP's BL60p is immediately available for $5,695. NEC and Hitachi also market blades that use Itanium processors.
