Telehouse offers new exchange point

February 9, 2005

Colocation services provider Telehouse America announces that its newest Internet exchange point, at 111, 8th Ave. in New York City, will be available on March 1st.

Telehouse says it is currently the only company that offers a seamless peering fabric in New York City, with its NYIIX exchange point at the Broadway Center at 25 Broadway and its remote switch at 60 Hudson Street.

The NYIIX fabric encompasses New York City's largest carrier hotels, making it one of the largest peering points in the US.

Placing a remote peering switch at 111 8th Avenue and extending it through a multiple redundant backbone to Telehouse's NYIIX at 25 Broadway and 60 Hudson Street, says the company, allows companies at 111 8th to peer easily with NYIIX's more than 65 members.

Similarly, more than 180 companies at Broadway Center can now expand their peering options by connecting with more than 200 enterprise and carrier customers at 111 8th, in addition to over 200 at 60 Hudson, making NYIIX the only peering exchange to provide its members with a 10GigE interface's speed from all three locations.

A promotional discount will be offered to the first ten clients that sign up by May 31 for a spot at the new 111, 8th Avenue node.

"The combined advantages of the NYIIX triple node offer enterprise and carrier clients expansive accessibility to major providers in the network space," says John Shields, TELEHOUSE's executive vice president.
