Windows servers gaining market share over Unix
A server market survey shows that Unix' traditional dominance in the server
industry appears to be threatened by a
strong increase in Windows server sales.
While global server revenue grew to $12.1 billion in the first quarter of 2005,
Unix and Windows server revenue ended the quarter in a statistical tie, each
generating about $4.2 billion, said IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Server Tracker.

Google's DNS outage disturbing to network managers
Google's global network was taken offline
for a short period Saturday May 7,
due to what the company called a DNS issue. All of Google's websites were
temporarily inaccessible during the outage, sparking fears that the world's
largest Internet property had been hacked.

Phishing still prevalent says Postini
According to a survey produced by email security provider Postini,
and despite a 45 percent drop for the month of April, many
phishing and security problems
aren't over yet. The practice of phishing involves sending
out seemingly-genuine emails from e-commerce and financial institutions
in an effort to gain personal and financial information from victims.
