Microsoft completes a major update to its Windows Server 2003
Microsoft said Wednesday it completed the development on its first major update to its Windows Server 2003 operating system and released it for distribution. Microsoft said that Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 is currently available for download via Microsoft's Web site and will soon start showing up on new servers.

MCI directors meet to analyze Qwest's offer
Web hosting provider and telco carrier MCI said yesterday that its board of directors met to discuss the latest acquisition offer tabled by Qwest Communications. Earlier this month, Qwest raised its offer to buy MCI to $8 billion. The move came on the heels of an original revised offer put forward after it lost out in the bidding to Verizon, which made a successful bid to acquire MCI in February for a reported $6.7 billion.
