The Symbian Foundation is shaking things on open source
The Symbian Foundation says it is preparing itself to face the Open Handset Alliance next week and
also announced a whole slew of new members to battle what it calls the Android threat. Meanwhile,
the LiMo Foundation and Access Linux are hanging around to see what they can muster on their end.
Considering that the war on operating systems is all about mobile applications, Symbian has announced
a list of new corporate members including MySpace, Bank of America and Omron Software.

Ask anyboby that knows the Linux operating system and they will tell you that, nowadays, there are probably
hundreds of different Linux distributions (or Linux flavors if you prefer) to choose from. Some say that this
allegedly puts potential users with a choice they are unable to make for themselves. Compounding the problem even
more, various Linux distributions are
usually incompatible with one another, leading to a situation where you need to hunt down applications specifically
packaged for your own distribution, or to some situations where a how-to applies to one distribution, but not to
