ClickRisk reduces click fraud
Security developer Inviplex says its ClickRisk service would be released on September 1, 2004. ClickRisk reduces click fraud, which some analysts believe accounts for more than 18 percent of cost per click advertising traffic.

Worldwide server market up 6.9 percent
According to a study to be released by research firm IDC, the worldwide server market grew 6.9 percent from the same period last year. IDC found server revenue growth at both the low and high ends of the market.

Via Net.Works acquires PSINet Europe
Web hosting and networking firm VIA NET.WORKS acquires PSINet Europe BV. The transaction, first announced on August 9, 2004, has resulted in VIA acquiring PSINet operations in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Sharing calendar data with the Internet
Used mostly by bloggers, RSS is targeting business applications, with the release of a new program for sharing calendar data over the Internet. Developer John Pacchetti released a trial version of RSSCalendar late last month, and the free application has quickly become one of the first nonblogging successes for RSS (Really Simple Syndication), the standard behind Web logs and news aggregator feeds.

IBM directing XP users not to install SP2
While developers at Microsoft may be celebrating that they finished work on Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows XP, IT departments around the world now face the question on whether they should update their systems, or not. IBM for one, is holding off on installing the security focused update for Windows XP. In a note headlined "To patch — or not to patch" posted Friday on its corporate intranet, IBM tells its employees not to download SP2 when it becomes available because of compatibility issues.
